Well again, welcome everyone. Uh My name is Mary Beth. Uh Jill's assistant, Jill Lublin is an international speaker on the topics of radical influence, publicity, networking, kindness and referrals. She's the author of four best selling books, including Get Notice, get referrals, gorilla publicity, and networking magic.
Her latest book, The Prophet of Kindness went. Number one in four categories. Jill is a master strategist on how to position your business for more profitability and more visibility in the marketplace. She is the CEO of a strategic consulting firm and she has over 25 years experience working with over 100,000 pe people plus the national and international media. Jill teaches a virtual publicity crash course and she consults and speaks all over the world. She's spoken on many stages with luminaries such as Tony Robbins and she also helps authors to create book deals with major publishers and agents as well as to obtain foreign rights deals. And I'm super excited to be with you here today. Hopefully you can hear everything and it's all good and we'll just do the best we can because one thing about media that you just keep going, you keep showing up and you create that visibility factor because what I want you to do today is to blow your own horn. Even when you feel like it's a kazoo. The issue is that you wanna create that visibility factor and have publicity work for you because my friend Pt Barnum said it best and that is a terrible thing happens without publicity. Nothing. Now my friends, I want to tell you how this is gonna go today. First. I'm gonna pour in some wonderful content to you. Thanks Kimberly. I appreciate that you love my humor more to come and let me just say, I wanna, I wanna pour great content into you. I wanna help you be the star. See the pretty star, that's you. I wanna help you be the star that you are and give you real world things to elevate your star so that you can get out there and create and get the publicity that you deserve at certain times. Beautiful because really what it's gonna do is it's gonna get you all kinds of things. My friends, Theresa and I hope I said that right gives you visibility right on Kimberly, right on visibility. Yes. Yes. So let me show you a great list and you know, take pictures of these slides, whatever supports you. Because one of the things I want all of you to know that I didn't quite see in the chat is it gives you high return on investment. What does that mean? It gives you prospects, it gets you more sales, it gives you increased trust, it gets you more credibility, more visibility, which a few of you mentioned. Thank you. And then on top of that, it gets you more money, it saves you money because frankly what it creates is that opportunity to not have to do ads in the marketplace. Because what you're creating is the visibility factor that gets you more exposure in the marketplace. And I only mean the good kind. Yes, I only mean the good kind. All right, my friends with that. Let's look at your, well, your garden.
I brought you flowers from San Francisco and I want you to plant your publicity garden and I want you to plan it now. Three months from now, six months from now and nine months from now because your publicity is an evolutionary garden. You are changing. Your message. Well, as your programs change, as your own offerings change, your garden will keep growing wonderful. And that's a great thing. And my friends, you gotta keep planting seeds and I'll show you how to do that. But even right now, right now, look at what's happening in the world.
Might there be something that you could be talking about as an expert? Because here's what I want you to know. You're all experts. You have different, see the keys, you have different keys to well, different solutions, right? You are the key to people's problems. And in fact, what publicity comes down to is having a great message. Now, do me a favor and take a look at the um the wonderful thing right now that we're gonna show you. And by the way, yes, I'm getting that about the audio and let me just see. Take a moment, let me just take a moment and see if I can do anything in the setting to fix that. I'm not promising anything, but maybe I can help that. Is that any better? Because that's the only thing I can switch is that any better? Hopefully a little bit put it in the chat, please. Kinda OK, so you know what? Bear with me. I ask your um permission to listen through what's happening. I don't know what's happening. My microphone is beautiful. It works. I promise. So I don't know what's happening. Please bear with me. I promise in the hole. My voice isn't scratchy. Thank you, Sarsa. I appreciate that. Thank you. So, let's talk about message. And interestingly enough, look at that word message.
What are the first two letters of it? Type it in the chat? What are the first two letters of the word? Message me. Exactly. You my friends. First two letters are last four letters. What is it? Go ahead. Type in the chat. Last four letters, stages. Yes, you gold stars to all of you. By the way for answering the questions for hanging through everything that happens in life. Because guess what in media things are gonna happen, you just keep going. You focus on the end goal and focus my friends on your message. And so your message is going to really be the foundation of everything that's gonna support you in getting your name out there. Interestingly enough, the first four letters of the word message is mess. We're gonna forget about that for now and support you with a strong message in the marketplace because you owe experts. You o stages you if you're gonna solve problems in the marketplace and that's why the media wants you. So here's the question you answer the problem today is and then fill in that blank. Think about that like what's the problem you solve? By the way, I just wanna add in. If there are any questions that we're going along, put them in the chat and then I'll come back to them at the Q and A section just so you know, what is the problem today?
So I'll give you what my actual message is and this is what I say in media, this is what you're gonna say in media. Well, you're gonna have your own message, right? And so Chris, that's actually, so what you do, I wanna know what's the problem today. And so the problem today and I'll give you an example of how this works. You wanna use statistics. So, Chris, in your case, it might be about women feeling unfulfilled or workers being unproductive. Now, here's what I would say. This can give you some great uh examples of this. The problem today is four out of five businesses will go out of business because you have no clue how to create publicity without spending a fortune. I wanna give you a three gorilla publicity tips today for how to get your message in the Yeah, the first way to get noticed is to create your ah factor. The second way is to create the I've heard of you Thumb syndrome. And the third way is focus on networking magic and show up in your communities at least twice a month for name and face recognition and that my friends is my message. It takes like 15 seconds. So here's the thing, most media interviews on TV, particularly are gonna be about four minutes, maybe five when I was on Fox News seven times when the prophet k of kindness first came out, these were four minutes and 20 seconds. What average TV interview?
So these are quick, right? These are focused and, and I want you to say it in five year old language and I want you to keep it really simple. Some of you. Maybe when we do the Q and A I come on in, let's play and I'll help you with your message. Would that be good? Thumbs up? Thumbs up. Yes. Yes. OK. With that part of what I want you to do is create beautiful. Thank you. What I want you to do is create your oh factor. And in fact, when we're creating your ah factor, I want you to use everything you've got. What do I mean by that? Well, let me show you an example. OK. So go ahead to the next slide. For instance, one of the women I work with, she's a psychologist. We were doing a great story about how to deal with relationships and then the quarantine, you know, in a pandemic hit. And I said to her, we're gonna shift your story because remember you're planting seeds and if there's something going on right now, you have to shift, you have to pivot and talk about the news that's on right now. And so I made her into what I call the quarantine cupid and that actually got her major media including as an example, WGN in Chicago, huge Chicago, Illinois, huge ra uh 50,000 watt radio station. How could you be putting yourself out there?
And this works, by the way, in all, really, really, all kinds of places. I've, I've been in six continents around the world. My clients are international and I will tell you, publicity is all about creating and finding the right message. Go ahead. So what, for instance, I was working with an interior designer and one of the things that happened was we were going out with a story about how to make your home sell. And that was working well into real estate uh real estate columnists and people who are working in the real estate field and she was getting actually great publicity and then the pandemic hit. And of course, then we had workstations at home and child uh learning stations at home and everyone was running through kitchens 24 hours a day and all of a sudden you home had to accommodate at a whole another level. And that's how I said to her, let's shift your story and this is how to make your home pandemic friendly. And that actually got her international media talking about how to make your home pandemic friendly. And of course, it continues because guess what people are now working from home and that, that made a big difference. Now, I wanna show you the next piece about um Brian. Oh Mary Beth, do you have Ryan, I wanna show them about Ryan if you could.
So, one of the things and if not, I'll just tell you about him, Ryan uh had come to me and he's an instructional designer. And to be honest, I didn't actually know what that was. He said, Jill, I gotta grow my business. He had just come out of corporate, he had actually been fired from his corporate job. His wife was pregnant with their third child on the way and he had just bought a big house, right? So he's got major expenses. He's got a pregnant wife. He's got two other little kids and no job. Now I said, Ryan, oh my God, what did you do? He said, well, I started my own company and online. Literally, he put together a team to work virtually. This was pre pandemic by the way and he actually ended up very successful. But you know what, I I looked at him and I said, Ryan, you know what you are, you are a virtual office warrior, right? A virt virtual office warrior. And so with that, Ryan actually look at this, look at the screen on the screen. You see when fired, you too can vow not to work in an office again. Oh my gosh. Hey Mary Beth. Just a thought because some people may um you know, whatever different things, put, put how to get a hold of me on my schedule. If any of you wanna talk publicity and schedule call.
I just wanna put that in there in the chat for you so that you have it. Ok? And that's the opportunity to talk with me about what you're dealing with. So check that out, Ryan became a virtual office warrior. And when fired, you too can vow not to work in an office again. Oh my gosh. Look at that. They put that on the front page of the San Francisco Business Journal, huge major market paper with that. My friends, look at what happened. I wanna show you the next slide and hey Marybeth put in my wonderful free gift too. What happened Ryan's pr R results is that he got featured in major national magazines, radio newspapers, blogs, all major media. His business revenues increased over 40% using publicity, marketing strategies and one placement using everything he's got. See, I want you to use everything you've got. He's actually Asian American and although he didn't speak Chinese, we translated his articles into Chinese.
Put them in the Chinese times, which is a, a big national newspaper in the United States. And guess what? One article resulted in over $7000 worth of business? Isn't that amazing? Ryan literally launched his business from zero and laid off to a thriving consulting business using the power of publicity. I can you see why I love this? Yes. Yes. Can you see why I love this? This is about the power of getting your name out there and finding the right message that matters. Let's go on Mary Beth. Thank you and I'm so excited for all of you. Um Thank you. So we're, we're always focused on what's the message that's gonna work. Now, I gave you an example of ah factors and we've done some research, my friends, you're probably gonna wanna take a picture of this slide because here are the topics that are working right now. Health and mental health, mindset, transformation, weight loss activism. Like for instance, one of my clients came to my um virtual publicity course, which I'll tell you about just a bit and I look across the zoom room because it's live and it's interactive with me. And I said, can you please tell me where you're from?
And she said, I'm Filipino. I said, you know, there's a big movement right now called Hashtag Stop Asian Hate. I would like you to go out and talk about that. And that was actually the story that moved her digital marketing agency. She actually came into the course because she wanted to create more leads and referrals just like I told you earlier and that actually did it, it created that visibility factor that got her escalated to the top. So that now she's named one of the top Filipino businesses. 30 under 30. She's actually 28 years old. So, how powerful is that right now? Can you use any of that? Right. Use everything you've got alternative healing is a big subject, real estate and consulting. If you're a consultant, it's a hot topic. So, is money anything related to money? And of course, with the great resignation going on, if you're a consultant or a coach or you're, you're working in the area of well by yourself, right? What you're doing is providing the opportunity to help others. All right, beautiful.
This, I wanna lead you to some, what I like to call visibility building activities. And what I'd like you to do is look at this list and the opportunity to, to do simple things that are quick and easy and all free. Yes. All right. So I want you to network in your community just like you're doing here. Now. Give me a thumbs up if you like to network, give me a thumbs up if you like to network. Come on. I'm waiting for the chat. Same with blog, talk radio and help a reporter.com is so important that you each, each, each focus in on what it is that you are learning and it's about getting visibility, my friends and these right here, right on this slide, take a picture of this slide are all opportunities for you to get visibility and publicity for free.
It's all about building your visibility and then having people say, you know, I've heard of you somewhere. All right, let's keep going super exciting. And thank you for your comments in the chat. Remember we got some questions coming up, you know, this, use everything you've got.
I want to show you how I did this for the profit of kindness. This is my latest book and we, you know, as much as I'd love to tell you, listen, many of my clients don't have books, you have to have a book to get publicity, you have to be an expert. Remember that you have to solve problems in the marketplace. And so what we saw was a problem particularly in the United States and now frankly all over the world, what we call the divided States of America. And that's the subject. My friends that actually got me both national and international media literally featured in seven Fox News TV interviews in the first week I've been in Ink and Forbes twice. If you look at the screen, that's a third of some of the actual publicity I got. So let me share with you. It's all about pushing the right button. And in this case, yes, you gotta push the right button. This is my emergency affirmation which says you are awesome. And occasionally I have to do it for me, right? Because we all have to remind ourselves because you are awesome and you're here because you deserve recognition for what good work that you're doing.
So, one of the things when I, when I put out the prophet of kindness, I got inspired to bring people together in circles of kindness. And I now have a year of kindness. We do it for with people from all over the world. We have people in all parts of the world joining this circle where we come together for one hour and we share leads and referrals and we help each other with our business in the spirit of kindness. So here's what I'm gonna do for you today because you came here and that is you're gonna join me as my guest, please. Well, then you're then it's a little quicker. Ok?
But no matter what the media asks you, I want you to just say yes, just say yes, no matter what the media asks you because you got me in your pocket now and we can figure out what I like to call the bridge, right, the bridge to what the media is asking you and then what you can talk about.
And I think that will make a really big difference for you. So I'm not sure what happened and we don't need to go into details right now, but here's what I'd say if it's anything related to show bad um online comment. Uh you can do certain things in Google and Yelp and other places where you can actually get comments removed. Ok. So I will tell you that and um I'm not sure of all the technical details, but I know that they will remove comments and also sometimes you just gotta meet things head on and you know, you know, when you leave a hotel, a bad review as an example and I don't know about you. But I am impressed when a hotelier comes on and says, you know, thank you for your comments, Simone. But you know, I'm so sorry you had this experience. Let's make it better. Please contact us directly.
Um So Simone, without knowing all the details, I would tell you your best bet is not to give it a lot of energy and go out with a new message, a new, shall we say Putting yourself out there in a, in a, in a we'll call it a new way, right? And ignore as much as possible, the bad stuff, so to speak. OK? Cause listen, nobody's perfect and things happen. I'm not sure what happened but you know they do and it's just part of life. But I think when you present yourself with integrity and authority, when you get positive publicity based on some of the strategies I've been giving you to get it done. Number one, I don't know what that is. I just don't know what that is. So one thing you have to be careful of and, and I said this in the beginning but it bears repeating is in your message, always be five year old language. We don't know you, we don't know your jargon or your business, right? So be careful of jargon or any kind of abbreviations cause we don't, we don't know and that's OK. Just know that. Um And so I think that what you wanna do is you wanna be focused on a message that's simple and easy, a message that clearly gets to the point of what you wanna communicate while being authentic and resonant to who you are. Yes.
And I think that that's really important and, and uh and be careful of abbreviations and, and those kinds of things. Wonderful Mary Beth people were asking to post. So thank you for posting that again. You know how that happens sometimes like the screens move around. So do the chats beautiful. Hang on. Oh, how do I price your arts? So you're saying, I think you're saying, how do you price your art so that it feels good for you? And I'm gonna say one thing you're all priceless. I mean, honestly, you're all priceless. Listen, the value that I gave you today in the publicity course used to be over $1000 just the course. So with that, I think it's uh I think it's good to price your services and this goes for everybody. So for her, it's her art for some of you, it's um it might be around what uh what is the value that's appropriate for right now, right? And so obviously with COVID, you'll, you, that's why you're seeing an amazing 197 US price. We never offered two programs for one price like that as a bonus. But now I, I, you know, I just know people need that help and more than ever, right? We're all dealing with different things. So I want very much everybody to have the kind of help you need.

OK. So that would be my answer to you and, and I say, start where it's important where it feels good to you. Like you don't wanna be giving your art away unless it's somebody who writes a review or an article on it. And by the way, in media just saying you're gonna have to give things away. Um You know, if uh just because media expects that they can, shall we say, participate in things. So let me share a fun story. There was um an organizer I was working with and one of the things we did was have her reach out to a reporter because we know reporters are always operating in a state of chaos. You know, the media is like going fast and oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I gotta do the next thing a bit of state of emergency. And I said to her call up this reporter and say, I'm gonna organize your desk completely complementary and you just see how it feels. There wasn't a request for even an an article.
Well, this reporter was so excited that she basically said you're in, I'm writing an article about this because I know that to um be successful in business, you gotta have a clean desk and that leads to a clean mind. Yes. And that was great. Now, Savita, you're asking about the linkedin article viral and that's a great question. So one of the things I think I think would be really beautiful is to um post your article on medium.com and on E Zine articles.com Ezine. Those are both free resources, those of you that are coming into my virtual publicity course, I've got actually about six different places. You can post articles. Those would be two that I would actually uh encourage you to do. Ok. So that's a, a great, a great space. Wonderful.
