Duties:

  • Develop corporate narratives to be promoted and amplify corporate news and announcements through paid and organic promotion of Rakuten content (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google) to reach target audiences in US, Canada, Japan, EU, India, Singapore and more
  • Plan and build advertisements and advise on digital content opportunities and strategies
  • Creation of paid ad pacing and budgeting framework
  • Prepare or oversee preparation of reports on meetings
  • Execute Rakuten Global Communications content strategy, including planning, execution, promotion, on-going management of the content lifecycle and coordination of special publicity events and promotions for internal and external audiences
  • Deliver insights, performance reports and presentations on owned/social best practices to the Global Communications team, contributing to its goal of being a pioneer in owned and social media
  • Review ad copy/creative to ensure there are no typos, errors or formatting issues and manage post campaign analysis to measure and report on content performance metrics and KPIs
  • Produce high quality video and design deliverables to amplify high impact Rakuten news, announcements, key messages and concerns of key groups served by their organization
  • Develop, organize and facilitate global editorial meetings, which bring together key content stakeholders from various teams within the Rakuten Corporate Communications Department
  • Develop, implement and report on public relations strategies and programs designed to inform partners, employees and the general public of initiatives and policies of Rakuten’s business units and brand
  • Manage relationships with external agencies and freelancer content creators

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, data science or a related field (Postgraduate degrees or certifications are a plus)
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role (including with agency experience and experience working with leading global tech companies)
  • Excellent project management skills and keen attention to detail: Maintain monthly budgets for a variety of ad campaigns and organization of historical data
  • Performance marketing expertise: Experience running paid ad campaigns, optimizing campaigns, identifying key metrics and making data-based decisions to ensure the team always improves and advances
  • Organic content promotion expertise: Ability to optimize the reach and impact of Rakuten content, tailoring content for a variety of channels and formats
  • Content production expertise: Ability to shoot and edit videos for social media, create visuals for owned & social media using various design tools, draft blog posts and social copy, utilize AI tools for content production, and more.
  • Strong communication, writing and creative production skills (including video and design production)
  • Social media expert: An intuitive understanding of the different audiences, ad platforms and creative best practices for leading social platforms and how to leverage each channel to build follower counts and engage key audiences
  • Intercultural communications: Ability to communicate effectively with a global team that operates across time zones and cultures
