The Role:
Rakuten Kobo Inc. are seeking a Data Analyst (5 month contract) to join our Big Data team. Reporting to the Manager of Business Analytics, you will be part of a diverse, flexible, and collaborative environment where you will be able to work with unique and exciting data and directly impact the business on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage the large amount of data collected in our ecosystem, from our: website, partners, apps, and eReaders to further our mission of making reading better for all.
- Empower a culture of self-serve analytics by creating meaningful, efficient ETL pipelines to power our Data Lake & Marketplace.
- Use your engineering expertise to evolve, modernize, and improve the performance and reliability of our data collection, aggregation, and analysis pipelines.
- Work with the BigData and Data Engineering team to tackle complex data & processing challenges.
- Apply your knowledge of statistics, experimental design and A/B testing to help business & product owners make sound decisions based on meaningful data.
- Present your findings to audiences of various technical backgrounds.
The Skillset:
- B.Sc. In Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering or related field
- 5+ Years of SQL experience in both a data mining & ETL capacity (In various environments: MS SQL Server, Google BigQuery, Hive)
- 2-3+ Years of Python experience
- 2+ Years using Data Visualization Tools (Tableau, Domo, Google Looker Studio)
- Working knowledge job orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Working knowledge of the Unix shell environment
- Working knowledge of Git workflows
Bonus Points:
- Experience using large datasets in eCommerce
- Familiarity with statistical tools such as R
- A passion for beautiful data visualizations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
